About the Talk:
Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists’ first Nature Talk of the 2026-27 program year will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Our new theme for this year is “Biodiversity Makes a Difference”. Our first speaker on this topic is Adam Fritz who has been documenting all the flora, fauna and fungi in his urban backyard, and then blogging about it.
About Adam Fritz:
Adam Fritz is a retired Public Service Executive and former globe-trotting environmental educator. Five years ago he asked himself the question “How many species live in my backyard?” The answer proved both surprising and elusive. Learn how Adam experimented with different technologies, waged war on foreign invaders and conquered his fears of all things creepy crawly.
Nature Talks General Information:
Meetings are held at the Almonte United Church at 106 Elgin Street in Almonte. Meetings begin at 7 pm, with doors open and refreshments available starting at 6:30 pm.
The Nature Talks series is one of the benefits of MVFN membership.
Admission is $5 for non-members, and new members are always welcome.

Ken Allison will discuss sightings submitted to him by Monday, September 14. You can send your sightings by email or add them to MVFN’s iNaturalist project.
There will also be an opportunity to share any last-minute sightings during the meeting.
